Media Statement KIMBERLEY – The SAPS management welcomes the 6 year sentence that was handed down to Hilldrick Kupido (30) of Van Wyksvlei for assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH). On 29 April 2024 at 18:20, the accused and his 38-year-old female partner were in an altercation when he assaulted her with stones and a cool drink crate. Bail was opposed, and the accused remained in custody until his sentencing. Kupido was sentenced to 6 years direct imprisonment in the De Aar Circuit Regional Court for assault GBH, wholly suspended for 5 years. He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.
The SAPS Management commended Detective Warrant Officer Floris Fritz of the Carnarvon Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit for his assertive and professional investigation that ensured the incarceration of the GBVF offender.
