The South African Motorbike Delivery Association (SAMDA) hereby invites members of the media to cover the continuation of the UberMoto National Shutdown taking place tomorrow at 08h00 at Balfour Park, Johannesburg.

This action follows mass mobilizations by riders against unfair treatment, unpaid wages, and the exploitative use of third-party service providers on the Uber platform. Riders are demanding direct employment with Uber South Africa and have submitted a Memorandum of Understanding which the company has yet to acknowledge or accept.
The shutdown has highlighted the structural injustices within the delivery industry, where riders carry the burden of costs, risks, and unsafe working conditions without the protections of fair contracts, transparent pay structures, or adequate grievance mechanisms. SAMDA, representing thousands of riders, has made it clear that the shutdown will continue until Uber South Africa formally addresses these grievances and agrees to binding dialogue.
