POLOKWANE – The South African Police Service in Tzaneen under Mopani District are hunting down four unknown male suspects in connection with the rape of a 15 year-old girl at an unknown location under Tzaneen policing area between Friday, 26 April 2024 around 17:30 until Saturday, 27 April 2024 at about 04:00. It is reported that the victim allegedly left her residence at Mopje village, Bolobedu on Friday, 26 April 2024 at about 17:30 and departed to a Bar Lounge at Motopa village and shared drinks the whole night with her two friends. On Saturday, 27 April 2024 at about 02:00, the victim left Bar Lounge and proceeded to a local Tavern but while on the way, an unknown red motor vehicle with four unknown male suspects stopped next to her. The suspects alighted from the motor vehicle in possession of firearms, grabbed the victim, put her inside the motor vehicle, and drove away to an unknown location at the bushes in Tzaneen precinct. Upon arrival, the suspects raped the victim in the bushes and later fled the scene driving an unknown motor vehicle leaving the victim in the bushes. A 15-year-old managed to walk to the main road and she was assisted by a motorist who drove her to Tzaneen police station to report about the incident. The police opened a case of rape and a manhunt of the four unknown suspects is currently ongoing.
