Two to Appear in Court for Epping Taxi Violence-Related Murders
In a targeted crackdown on taxi-related violence in the Western Cape, police have arrested two suspects following the brutal murder of two taxi association members in Epping.
The suspects, aged 27 and 31, are scheduled to make their first appearance in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 19 October 2026.
The incident occurred on Friday, 16 October 2026, along Fisher Avenue in Epping. Official reports indicate that patrol members from a local taxi association were travelling in a sedan when a Toyota Quantum minibus blocked their path.
Seven men alighted from the minibus and opened fire on the sedan, unleashing a hail of bullets.
Two victims, aged 45 and 46, were killed on the scene. Police investigators later recovered numerous spent cartridges at the location.
Following the shooting, a swift follow-up operation by the Provincial Taxi Violence Unit led detectives to the two suspects, both of whom have documented links to the taxi industry.
They currently face double murder charges.
SAPS management in the Western Cape has lauded the investigative team for the rapid arrests, reiterating that law enforcement will continue to deal decisively with taxi-related violence.
As the investigation into the ambush continues, authorities have confirmed that more arrests are expected.
