Two suspects due to appear in court for contravention of the National Environmental Management Act: Hunting and possession of pangolin

MPUMALANGA – Two suspects, aged 28 and 31, are expected to appear before the Kabokweni Magistrate Court on Monday, 20 May 2024 after they were arrested by a team comprising of Nelspruit based Serious Organised Crime Investigation, Flying Squad members and Nelspruit LCRC on Friday, 17 May 2024.

On Friday, 17 May 2024, at about 11:50, members of the Hawks Nelspruit based Serious Organised crime Investigation unit followed up information regarding two suspects who were selling a Pangolin. Suspects fitting the description were noticed next to the Total Garage in Kabokweni. The suspects were carrying a black school bag. They were searched, and inside, the team found one dead Pangolin.

Suspects were arrested and detained pending their court appearance on Monday. Pangolin was confiscated.  Investigation continues.
