Media Statement WESTERN CAPE – An intelligence driven operation conducted by members of the Anti-Gang Unit and their Information Team led to the recovery of a prohibited firearm, ammunition and drugs, and the arrest of two males. On Wednesday, 08 January 2025, members promptly operationalised information received, which led them to a residence in Seine Road, Manenberg. Upon arrival at the mentioned address the team conducted an in-depth search at the premises and they found and seized one 9mm pistol without a serial number, 15 x 9mm rounds of ammunition, 50 mandrax tablets, 40 sachets of tik and an undisclosed amount of cash believed to be proceeds of criminal activities. A 32-year-old man was subsequently apprehended for illegal possession of a prohibited firearm, illegal possession of ammunition, and for dealing in drugs. In an unrelated matter, on Wednesday, 08 January 2025 at around 18:45, members attached to Khayelitsha police responded to information received about drugs being kept at a premises in Masemola Road, Site C, Khayelitsha. During the search, the members found 299 packets of tik at the premises. A 42-year-old man was then arrested for being in possession of tik and for dealing in drugs. The two suspects will appear in the Athlone and Khayelitsha Magistrates Court respectively once charged on the mentioned charges.
