POLOKWANE – The police in Tubatse under Sekhukhune District have arrested two male suspects, aged 25 and 26, in connection with armed robbery, and possession of suspected stolen livestock. The arrests took place in the early hours of Saturday, 08 March 2025, after police swiftly responded to a report of a robbery at Makwataseng Village, Tubatse. The complainant alleged that six armed suspects entered the area where he keeps his cattle and robbed him of four cattle at gunpoint. Police were activated and quickly intercepted the suspects’ vehicle, a bakkie with a trailer at Riba Cross, leading to the arrest of two suspects. During the operation, officers recovered the four robbed cattle, the bakkie, the trailer used to transport them, and a licensed firearm belonging to one of the suspects, allegedly used in the commission of the crime. Members of Stock Theft and Endangered Species Unit have taken over the case for further investigation. More arrests are expected as the investigation continues. The two suspects are scheduled to appear before the Praktiseer Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 10 March 2025, facing charges of stock theft, robbery with a firearm, and possession of suspected stolen livestock. Authorities are also investigating whether the firearm was used in other crimes.
