Media Statement MQANDULI – The OR Tambo District Commissioner, Major General Cetyana has warned communities that the senseless, inhumane murdering of people will never be tolerated by police hence the constitution gives every individual a right to life. Two suspects, aged 28 and 42 years, were arrested by Mqanduli police after they allegedly beat to death a 20-year-old male at Tongwana locality, Khalalo Administrative Area on Tuesday, 11 June 2024. It is alleged that the deceased went to one of the suspect’s homestead accusing him of having a love affair with his girlfriend and broke windows. The suspect then called his friend and they both started assaulting the deceased with sticks while his hands were tied with a rope and they kept him in a house until he died. Community members were informed who then alerted the police and through investigation they arrested the two suspects.
They were both charged for murder and appearing at Mqanduli magistrate court on Friday, 14 June 2024.
