The Harrismith police arrested two suspects from Intabazwe and Tshiame C separately following the house robbery incidents, which took place on Friday, 16 and Sunday, 18 May 2025.
It’s alleged that on 16 May 2025 the 22-year-old woman was at home sleeping when she heard noise inside her rental room and she decided to wake up and switch on the lights. She noticed three unknown men inside the house. They covered her with a blanket while others were collecting items inside her room. She screamed for help from other tenants, who responded. The suspects fled the crime scene with her cellphone, brown side bag with her identification card and a grass cutter. They gained entry through the broken door.
The police were summoned to the crime scene and followed up on information on preliminary investigations, which led to the arrest of one suspect found in possession of the aforementioned steel grass cutter. The other two suspects are being traced. A case of house robbery is being investigated.

On Sunday, 18 May 2025 at about 02:00 the 62-year-old woman from Tshiame C, Harrismith was sleeping with her daughter(25) and other kids when she heard the voice of her neighbour outside her house shouting her name and she decided to wake up and switch on the lights.
The suspect broke the door and entered the house carrying an axe. He dropped the axe on the floor and took the panga out of his waist and chased her. The woman ran away and went through her bedroom window together with everyone in the house.
The suspect came out of the house carrying a black plasma TV, which was later recovered by police and found in his possession. He was arrested and charged.
