Media Statement FICKBURG – The Ficksburg Reginal Court has sentenced Rudi Gericke (39) and Kleinjan Le Grange (35) for the August 2022 incident in which victims were assaulted when they watched a rugby match at Ficksburg Golf Club. On 6 August 2022 at about 19:00, the patrons watched a rugby match when the two accused assaulted people inside the club. The two victims intervened to stop them, but they turned unto them and were also assaulted and sustained injuries. Cases of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, common assault, intimidation, and malicious damage to property were investigated. On Tuesday, 19 November 2024, the accused, Kleinjan Le Grange, was sentenced to three years direct imprisonment, and his co-accused, Rudi Gericke, was sentenced to 1 year imprisonment. He is also serving a 13 year sentence in prison for murder in a previous murder case.
