Media Statement POLOKWANE – Two male suspects aged 42 and 45 are due to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s court soon facing a charge of dealing in drugs following their apprehension on Saturday 31 August 2024. A tactical intelligence operation was conducted in Polokwane and Westenburg precincts about the illegal activities in dealing with drugs. The Provincial Crime Intelligence Cluster Coordination Narcotics Task Team together with Capricorn Flying Squad Unit operationalised on the information to combat the criminal activities. A 45-year-old male suspect was monitored while driving a white Toyota Starlet motor vehicle from his residence outside Polokwane at about 03:00 intending to distribute the drugs in the areas. The suspect was reportedly spotted driving along the R37 public road at Bakoni Malapa Museum and was immediately stopped and searched. A 45-year-old male was found in possession of 28 bags of Nyaope drugs containing 50 sachets, 05 bags of Crystal-Meth drugs weighing 10 grams, 40 pieces of Rock Cocaine including a substantial amount of cash suspected to have been generated through the proceeds of crime. The motor vehicle was also seized during the arrest and police proceeded to Extension 40 under Westerburg policing area and subsequently nabbed a 42-year-old male accomplice who was found also found in possession of 5 bags of Crystal-Meth drugs, 100 sachets of Nyaope and dagga. The drugs seized are estimated at a street value of more than ten thousand rands in cash (R10 000-00). Police investigations are continuing. Ends
