Media Statement MPUMALANGA – The Provincial Head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Major General Gerber commended the collaboration of the multidisciplinary team for ensuring that drug dealers are apprehended and kept behind the bars. These commendations came after two Nigerian nationals, Ikemukwu Benjermin Ezirim (39) and Christian Valentine Uchenna (37) were arrested during multidisciplinary disruptive operations conducted by the team comprising of Secunda based Serious Organised Crime Investigation, Serious Corruption Investigation, Serious Commercial Crime Investigation, Standerton K9 Unit, assisted by ACSU Security on Thursday, 28 November 2024 Volkrust Mpumalanga The disruptive operation followed after information was received and operationalised by the team regarding suspects who are dealing in drugs. Upon arrival at the identified address, the suspects attempted to dispose the evidence by flushing some of the drugs down the toilet. The suspects were apprehended and taken to the vehicle where more drugs were found hidden in the body of the vehicle and tyres. During the search, it was discovered that the two suspects are without valid documents. They were arrested, charged and detained. The suspects appeared at the Volkrust Magistrates Court on Friday, 29 November 2024 and the case was postponed to 9 December 2024 for bail application. The accused remains in custody. The estimated value of drugs seized is R1, 2 million The following seizures were made: 1. Cash: R2000 in different notes. 2. Five cellphones estimated value R15000 3. Silver weighing scale estimated value R200 4. Silver Mercedes-Benz C180 with an estimated value of R400 000-00 The Provincial Head Major General Gerber further appreciated the community members who provided information which led to the arrest of the suspects and seizure.
