GQEBERHA – SAPS Kariega detectives are investigating a culpable homicide case following a fatal accident where two persons died on Saturday, 18 May 2024, on the Rocklands Road. It is alleged that at approximately 18:15, three vehicles were involved in the accident on the R334 (Rocklands / Uitenhage Road). According to information, the driver of the Toyota Avanza was travelling in the direction of Rocklands and was alone in the vehicle. A VW Golf with two occupants were travelling in the direction of Kariega. It was further alleged that the driver of the Avanza was attempting to avoid an accident with cattle on the road but collided head on with the VW Golf. Behind the VW Golf was a third vehicle, a VW Polo also travelling in the direction of Kariega, also collided into the back of the VW Golf. The driver (unknown) of the Avanza and a 30-year-old female from the VW Golf died on the scene while the driver of the VW Golf was taken to hospital for treatment.
A case of culpable homicide is under investigation.
