WESTERN CAPE – A joint operation conducted by Khayelitsha and Nyanga Tactical Response Teams (TRT) led to the arrest of three Chinese nationals and the recovery of a shotgun, seven rounds of ammunition and a substantial quantity of dagga. On Tuesday, 01 April 2025 at about 13:00 members proceeded to a premises in Kleindassenberg, Atlantis after receiving information of dagga being cultivated on a farm. Upon arrival at the mentioned premises members ensued with a search during which they discovered a variety of dagga plants being cultivated on the premises. The members also found and seized a shotgun, ammunition and a substantial quantity of dried dagga, concealed in different packaging including 37 boxes, 155 black bags, 670 small bags, 15 black containers and 28 buckets. Three suspects aged 31, 46 and 60 were arrested on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition and possession of dagga. They are due to appear in the Atlantis Magistrates’ court once charged. Ends
