POTCHEFSTROOM – A Crime Intelligence tactical operation by the Brits Trio Task Team, led to the arrest of a suspect who was appearing before court in Ga-Rankuwa for armed robbery committed on Monday, 2 September 2024, in Itsoseng, Phase 5, Hebron. It was reported during the commission of the crime that a 21-year-old man was on his way home when three armed men confronted and robbed him of his cellphone at gun point. The victim was aided by Community Patrollers and recovered his cellphone shortly after the incident. The suspect was traced and arrested. Extensive police investigations linked the suspect to two separate business robberies committed in August 2024, in Block B, Letlhabile, outside Brits. Subsequent to his court appearance, the suspect was questioned and led the police to two addresses in Soshanguve and Rosslyn where two more suspects were arrested. The trio, aged between 29 and 31, will appear before the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 25 September 2024, for armed robbery. Investigations are continuing. The Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena, congratulated the team for their hard work to ensure that criminals are removed from the street to face the full might of the law. He also thanked Community Patrollers and emphasised the importance of the police community relationship in the fight against crime. Ends
