POLOKWANE – The Sekgopo Matsorang foundation led by Kgoši Matsorang Sekgopo has on Friday, 27 December 2024 visited Modjadjiskloof SAPS to honour the outstanding contributions made by Constable Tshwarelo Mabulane, attached to Modjajiskloof. Constable Mabulane is working as Social Crime Prevention Official and assisting in sustaining communication efforts for the station. Constable Mabulane received a Certificate of Appreciation and a Statuette from Sekgopo Matsorang Foundation on behalf of Sekgopo community. This was a way to congratulate Constable Mabulane for winning Best Visible Policing member of the year 2024 award during Limpopo Province Excellence Awards ceremony held early December 2024, paving the way for him to compete at the National level.
“I feel delighted and grateful for receiving such a prestigious and precious award from Kgoshi Sekgopo Matsorang, the award came as a surprise and I really appreciate the recognition . My dedication to the community is from my heart especially with experience of being a son of a woman who was once a victim of Domestic Violence and GBV for very long time,” said Constable Mabulane. Constable Mabulane says ensuring that justice prevails and service to victims makes him heal from old wounds which he suffered witnessing his mother being assaulted and abused. On the other hand, Mabulane previously scooped two awards from National SAPS bestowed by the former National Police Commissioner, General Khehla Sitole, after recovering over 2 million worth of properties in Midrand and another one for arresting a suspect who robbed a certain church, leading to his sentence. Constable Mabulane was commended that the suspects he arrested were ultimately sentenced , proving that his meticulous work is noted. This recognition will also motivate his colleagues and other officials from different departments that it is possible to win the heart of community only when you treat them right and protect them at all times. The Modjadjiskloof SAPS Station Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Makgadi Manamela has vowed to give support to Constable Mabulane to prevent crime and to ensure that residents are and feel safe. The Station Commander further appreciated other members of the community who assist in the prevention of crime. Constable Mabulane further thanked three community members who assisted with information leading to the arrests of criminals within the policing precinct of Modjadjiskloof. The member realized that the SAPS members cannot eradicate crime alone but need the involvement of the residents. The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe praised the member for his achievement, further for the residents and their tribal leaders to recognize the good work done. She added that she is so proud to have the caliber of Constable Mabulane who is trusted by the community he serves. “You are an exemplary of what we call community based policing.
