Three Eastern Cape towns will be RENAMED after the sports, arts, and culture department gazetted name changes for these towns.
These changes come after former sports, arts, and culture minister Nathi Mthethwa previously announced several name changes in the province, including changing Port Elizabeth’s name to Gqeberha.

Hold onto your hats: 70km/h gale force winds in the Western Cape
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued a Yellow Level 2 warning for wind and waves in the Western Cape on Monday, 14 March. The weather warning key indicates that there is a high likelihood of significant weather-based impacts.
The weather warning is effective from 12:00 on Wednesday until 20:00 on Thursday, 16 March. The conditions will affect the provincial coastline from Saldanha Bay to Knysna.

Phaahla warns Nehawu workers of disciplinary action
Health Minister Joe Phaahla warned the striking members of Nehawu to report for duty on Tuesday or face disciplinary action.

Phaahla has given Nehawu and other unions until Tuesday morning to get back to work and put an end to the two-week wage strike. This comes after the union was served with an interdict by the Labour Appeals Court on Monday.

More than 100 people in Malawi and Mozambique has died as Cyclone Freddy has returned to southern Africa’s mainland, authorities said Monday.

Cyclone Freddy has become the longest-lasting storm on record. It has swept through southern Africa this weekend for the second time within a few weeks, making a comeback after a first hit in late February.
