The DCS continues to be on the receiving end of criticism after recently confirming that convicted murderer and rapist Thabo Bester escaped prison and faked his death.

Correctional Services confirms ‘Facebook Rapist’ Thabo Bester’s great escape
The Department of Correctional Services (DCS) confirmed on Saturday, 25 March, that Thabo Bester, known as the Facebook Rapist, made a spectacular escape from the Mangaung Correctional Centre in May 2022.
Dogged reporting from non-profit news agency GroundUp, recently thrust Bester’s story back into the spotlight. It published photos taken last year at a Sandton shopping centre that showed a man that bore an uncanny resemblance to the convict who was thought to be dead.

Thabo Bester: ‘Shocked’ POPCRU blames DCS for escape
The Department of Correctional Services (DCS) continues to be on the receiving end of criticism after recently confirming that convicted murderer and rapist Thabo Bester escaped prison and faked his death. The Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union (POPCRU) is among the latest to react to the gobsmacking revelations, lashing out at the department.
It was news agency GroundUp which lifted the lid on Bester’s escape by publishing photos of a man resembling him at a shopping centre in Sandton in 2022 – just two months after the department claimed he had died in a fire. The report said Bester committed suicide by setting himself on fire in his cell at approximately 3:25 on 3 May 2022. He was serving a life and 75 years imprisonment sentence.

Thousands of teenagers who call themselves ‘Luh Twizzy’ entered the Mall of Africa on Saturday, causing chaos.
Videos of the chaos were shared on social media.

It is believed the teenagers took part in a Tik Tok challenge called the ‘Luh Twizzy’ challenge. The challenge is to storm a mall and cause chaos, then leave. Sometimes they engage in fights inside the mall.

Weather warning: FLOODING and rain expected TOMORROW
The SA Weather Service have issued a yellow level 2 weather warning for Limpopo and Mpumalanga for tomorrow, 27 March.
Disruptive rain in the early morning is expected to lead to flooding over the Lowveld of Mpumalanga and the eastern parts of Limpopo, according to the weather warning.

Men walk from Polokwane to Pretoria to Help males SPEAKOUT
A group of men have embarked on an over 200 km walk from Polokwane to Pretoria in an effort to help men Speakout about mental health.
Led by Matalane Mokgatla, who has been keeping his followers updated on their grueling, the group has walked day and night on their 10-day trip to the Union Buildings in Pretoria, Gauteng.
