Three suspects shot dead following a shootout with police
Three suspects were shot dead following a shootout with police at the Baccleuch Interchange on Thursday.
According to police reports, an intelligence was received about a group of men travelling in three separate vehicles around malls, suspected to be linked to the alleged Rolex gang.
The Gauteng Tactical Response Team spotted one of the identified vehicles on the N3.
They attempted to stop it, but it sped off, leading to a high-speed chase and a shootout between suspects and police.
The TRT was supported by the Provincial Anti gang unit, Gauteng Traffic Air Wing, and private security companies.
The suspects’ vehicle came to a stop at the Baccleuch Interchange. The suspects were declared dead on the scene, and two pistols were found in the vehicle.
While police were processing the scene, a second identified vehicle was spotted in traffic and stopped. The driver, who was alone in the car, was arrested and will be charged with conspiracy to commit robbery.
The collaboration between various law enforcement agencies and private security companies continues to produce positive results in the fight against crime.
