Media Statement QUMBU – The OR Tambo District Commissioner Major General Pumzile Cetyana applauded Qumbu Vispol members for swiftly responding to a carjacking of a courier bakkie and arrested three male suspects aged between 31 and 38 yesterday, 27 June 2024 at about 17:30. Qumbu police quickly responded to a information of a carjacking and spotted the hijacked vehicle at Machibini locality, Upper Chulunca Administrative area where three suspects were cornered by police and fled the scene on foot leaving the vehicle abandoned. A police chase ensued and police successfully apprehended all three male suspects. Upon searching the suspects, members have recovered two unlicensed firearms and ammunition. The hijacked vehicle was recovered with all the goods and was confiscated by police. The suspects are facing charges of carjacking, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. The trio will appear before Qumbu Magistrate court on Monday 01 July 2024. Ends
