Media Statement POLOKWANE – Three suspects, Elvis Makiviri 32, Amos Ngwenya 35, and Samson Mphofu 55 appeared before Lephalale Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 07 June 2024, for charges of murder, business robbery, house robbery, Contravention of Immigration Act, possession of unlicensed firearms, among other charges. They were remanded in custody, and their cases were postponed to Monday, 10 June 2024, for legal representative. Members of Lephalale Detectives, Provincial Murder and Robbery Provincial Tracking Team, while on track and arrest operation, received an Intelligence information about the suspect who committed murder at Lephalale on Monday 03 June 2024. They then traced and arrested the suspect, who later revealed the names of his accomplices. The operational team followed up on the information, and they managed to arrest another two male suspects, both Zimbabwean nationals. The firearm used in the commission of the crime was recovered. The suspects were detained and charged at the Lephalale police station. During the arrest, the team recovered a 1×1 Uzi submachine gun with 11 live rounds, and one suspect was found in possession of a 9-mm clock with 2 magazines and 30 rounds. The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, welcomed the arrest and applauded the team for their determination and meticulous investigation. The three suspects were charged with murder, business robbery, house robbery, possession of unlicensed firearms, ammunition, kidnapping, and Contravention of Immigration Act.
