Three men were shot and killed, and a woman was injured during a violent attack in Amaoti, KwaZulu-Natal, on Saturday afternoon.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) responded to a distress call from an area locally known as Nigeria.
Officers arrived at approximately 22h27 and found several intoxicated individuals outside a multi-room dwelling.
Inside, officers discovered the bodies of two men in one room, while a third victim was found in a separate room. All had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
A female victim, who was shot in the finger, told officers she had been drinking with two of the deceased when three armed suspects stormed the home.
The attackers demanded valuables before shooting the two men and taking their cellphones and cash. They then moved to the second room, where they shot and killed the third victim, whose body was later found under his bed. It is unclear whether he was also robbed.
Authorities recovered approximately 16 spent 9mm cartridges at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
