POLOKWANE – Three male suspects aged between 27 and 36 were remanded in police custody at Mahwelereng Regional court on Thursday, 06 November 2024, in connection with a business burglary and possession of suspected stolen property incident. The cases of Cladwin Matlou (27), Ronewa Mutsinyalo (32) and James Matlou (36) were postponed until 20 November 2024 for formal bail application and further police investigations. The trio were arrested during an intelligence led tactical operation conducted in the policing area on Wednesday 06 November 2024. A 27 and 36 year-old suspect’s were nabbed while on duty at Ivanplats mine and their accomplice aged 32 apprehended while off duty at Mahwelereng Zone 1. Ronewa Mutsinyalo led the police to his rental residence that was immediately searched upon arrival at Masodi village. During the search, police recovered two (02) Drifters utilized to bore the underground mine estimated at more than two million of rands. Preliminary investigations revealed that a 27 year-old male suspect employed as a Security Guard allowed five male suspects to enter the premises while driving a silver Opel Corsa motor vehicle on 16 October 2024. The suspects allegedly stole three Drifters and loaded them into their motor vehicle and later drove off from the crime scene. Further police investigations are ongoing to locate the other two male suspects and third Drifter estimated at more than one million rands.
