POLOKWANE – Three male suspects, aged between 27 and 28, apprehended in Mankweng policing area during the early hours on Sunday 22 September 2024, following the brutal murder of a 47-year-old male victim next to a public road at about 01:10, have briefly appeared before the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday 25 September 2024. Latta Lekganyane (28), Tshepo Modau (27) and Mpho Molefe (28), were remanded in police custody and their case was postponed to next week Wednesday 02 October 2024, for bail application and further police investigations. Police received a complaint of assault at a local tavern in Ga-Thoka Section and rushed to the scene. Upon arrival, they were told that the victim was transported to Mankweng hospital by a motorist and proceeded to the facility and found the victim, who was unable to speak, with severe wounds on the upper body. The 47-year-old male victim succumbed to his critical injuries while receiving treatment from the medical personnel. Preliminary investigations revealed that Latta Lekganyane (28) assaulted the deceased with a bottle on the head while in the company of two male accomplices. The victim attempted to run away but was chased by the trio until they reached the R71 public road where he was appehended. The suspects stabbed a 47-year-old victim with sharp objects and allegedly took his belongings and fled the scene on foot afterwards. Following the incident, a murder case was opened at a local police station and an immediate manhunt of the known suspects was activated and subsequently led to their apprehension in the morning at about 05:00.
