Media Statement NAMAHADI – The Phuthaditjhaba Public Order Police Unit together with the Phuthaditjhaba Stock Theft Unit have successfully arrested three foreign nationals inside a local taxi found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition at Letshalemaduke Village following community information. On 22 January 2025 at approximately 16:00, the police received information with regard to three people who were in possession of a firearm inside a taxi on their way to Thabachitja Village, Qwaqwa. They reacted swiftly, following information and spotted the said taxi and stopped it. They found the driver and three men whose carry bags were searched, and positively, a revolver firearm was found with five bullets. It was circulated and established that it was reported stolen by Brooklyn police during January 2000. The three suspects, aged between 25 and 42, have been charged and expected to appear before the Phuthaditjhaba Magistrate Court on Friday, 24 January 2025, facing charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
