Three people — two men and a woman — have been arrested in connection with the killing of Xoliseka Lali, the chief whip of the Emalahleni Local Municipality in the Eastern Cape.
Lali, 43, was gunned down at his rented apartment in South East Village, Komani, on July 21. The brazen attack shocked the local community and prompted an intense investigation by authorities.
Following several days of dedicated work by investigators, key leads were followed to Mthatha, where the three suspects, aged between 37 and 42, were taken into custody.
They have been charged with murder and are expected to appear in the Queenstown Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
