GAUTENG – On 19 February 2017 at around 02:30, the female victim was home in Etwatwa, when the suspects came to her home and wanted to see her boyfriend. She informed them that her boyfriend is not home. The suspects threw stones on the roof and entered her home. The suspects started to assault the victim and raped her. The community came and managed to arrest one of the accused by the name of David Vilakazi. The case was opened in Etwatwa and allocated to Detective Mpendulo Goodman Masondo of Benoni Family Violence, Child Protection Services and Sexual Offenses Unit. The member continued with his investigation that led to the arrest of two other accused Prince Maelane and Thabong Shadrack. On 06 February 2025, the three accused were found guilty at Benoni Magistrate Court and sentenced each to 20 years imprisonment.
