Media Statement LIMPOPO – Three accused, Mphekgwana Elisa Modjadji (59), Lefupane Mahloatlie Mamatome (58) and Malekutu Walter Ramoshaba (48) made their appearance in the Kgapane Magistrates court today, 03 July 2024 on charges of fraud following their arrest on Tuesday, 02 July 2024. During 26 May 2021 and 23 December 2021, it is reported that two community members went to Bolobedu SASSA at Kgapane office to apply for disability grants. The two were given the application forms by one of the SASSA officials so that the forms could be completed by the doctors appointed by government. The forms were then completed but not approved as the two ladies did not qualify for disability grants. The forms were then resubmitted with amendments enabling the pair to be approved. The matter was then reported to the police after the capturing clerk suspected foul play and the Serious Corruption Investigation unit was tasked to investigate. During the investigation, the office of question documents was consulted and it was discovered that the hand writing that made the amendments belonged to one of the SASSA employees. The case was postponed to tomorrow, 4 July 2024 for formal bail application. Ends
