Media Statement POLOKWANE – SAPS Members attached to the Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit (VCIU) in Thohoyandou apprehended two foreign national male suspects, aged 28 and 47, for possession of a presumed stolen motor vehicle on Friday 25 October 2024, at about 12:50. It is reported that, a member of VCIU was on duty when two male foreign nationals arrived driving a white motor vehicle Nissan NP200 with Gauteng registration and requested clearance to proceed to Zimbabwe. While inspecting the vehicle, the members noticed the grind marks. Further checking of the vehicle on the system, the officer discovered that the vehicle had been reported stolen. When questioning the suspects on where they have obtained the vehicle, the suspects failed to provide a reasonable explanation except to indicate that they got the vehicle from their brother, who lives in Gauteng. The two suspects were arrested and detained at Thohoyandou Police Station. Preliminary investigation revealed that the motor vehicle was reported stolen at Florida policing area in Gauteng Province in July 2024. The Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has welcomed the arrest and further commended the members for being always alert and also ridding this Province of all forms of crimes. The duo will appear before Thohoyandou Magistrate’s court on Monday, 28 October 2024, facing charges of possession of a presumed stolen motor vehicle. Police investigations are ongoing. Ends
