The team compromising of Capricorn SAPS various Components and Moletlane CPU descended to Mshongo village following a tip-off about a suspect in possession of sand suspected to be precious metal (gold). The suspect (30) was found in possession of illegal mining implements and sand suspected to be gold bearing metals and he was immediately put under arrest.The suspect will appear before Magatle magistrates court soon.
The following items were confiscated by the police as part of evidence in court. All the members under operation Vala Umgodi in the province are having their hands on the deck to ensure that illicit mining activities is a thing of the past.
The Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has commended the multidisciplinary forces for their continued commitment and zero tolerance for illegal mining activities in the province.
