Media Statement KWAZULU-NATAL – On Monday, 05 August 2024, Hawks members from Pietermaritzburg Serious Organised Crime Investigation received information about a group of young stars who were intimidating the community of Munden in Pietermaritzburg. It alleged that they had produced a firearm piston on many occasions. An intelligence driven operation was conducted by the Hawks members in collaboration with Magma security company. They proceeded to the said place where a firearm was suspected to be kept. During the search, a firearm pistol valued of approximately R10 000-00 was recovered and seized by police for further investigation. The owner of the homestead said a firearm belongs to her late husband. It was circulated and discovered that it belongs to the deceased. The seized firearm will be subjected to ballistic test to ascertain if it was not used in the commission of any crime in the country. The KwaZulu-Natal Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Provincial Head, Major General (Dr) Lesetja Senona welcomed commended the members for the good work. Ends
