GAUTENG – The Gauteng Stock Theft and Endangered Species Unit of the South African Police Service (SAPS), in collaboration with various stakeholders, achieved significant success in combating stock theft and related crimes on Friday, June 28, 2024. As a result of their joint efforts, four suspects were arrested, two for possession of stolen stock and two for possession of drugs. Thirty (30) cattle were recovered, and five stolen cattle were returned to their rightful owner. Additionally, half a carcass of a slaughtered cow with meat was recovered. Nine kraals with cattle were inspected, and two farmers were fined for not marking animals in the prescribed manner.
The suspects will appear before the magistrate court soon.
