Two teenagers accused of attacking three Members of Parliament in Philippi are set to appear before the Athlone Magistrate’s Court.
The MPs—Ian Cameron, Lisa Schickerling, and Nicholas Gotsell—had just finished an oversight visit to the Police Training Academy when their vehicle was ambushed. Shots were fired from inside the car, leaving one of the suspects injured.
That teenager remains in hospital and will appear in absentia, while the second will stand before the court in person. Both face charges of attempted murder and attempted hijacking.
Police say the search for a third suspect is still ongoing.
