Award winning singer Naledi Aphiwe has since apologized to the Zimbabweans. This stems from a comment she made through social media which did not sit well with Zimbabweans.

Ever since she made that negative where she described how South Africa wad experiencing the influx of Zimbabweans and they should consider moving into their country of origin.

On Tuesday Naledi Aphiwe whose real name is Naledi Aphiwe Myongwane wrote a statement clarifying her position on that particular comment and apologized to the Zimbabweans.

“Social media never forgets, and I’ve been reminded of a comment I made a few months ago. I want to address it properly instead of ignoring it. First, I want to make it clear that my words were never meant to disrespect Zimbabweans or come from a place of hate. I understand that intentions don’t always translate well online, and I can see how what I said may have hurt or offended people. For that, I sincerely apologise.

“I am still young and I’m constantly growing, learning, and understanding the weight that words can carry especially on social media. I don’t claim to be perfect, and when I make mistakes, I believe in owning them and learning from them. This has definitely been a moment of reflection for me.Please don’t misunderstand my heart or define me by one comment.

Naledi said she truly wasn’t that deep or rooted in negativity.

“I respect people from all backgrounds, and I would never intentionally spread hate. I hope we can move forward with understanding and give each other grace. I genuinely wish peace for everyone involved, one love,” she said.

Police confirm warrant and extradition process

The South African Police Service (SAPS) says it is seeking the extradition of Zimbabwean musician and social media personality Malloti from Zimbabwe after confirming she is wanted in South Africa on a charge of robbery with a firearm. The announcement has quickly stirred public attention, not only because of the seriousness of the allegation, but also because Malloti remains a well-known and highly visible figure online.

Western Cape SAPS spokesperson Captain F.C. Van Wyk confirmed that a warrant of arrest was issued in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court for an accused identified as Namatai Bhobho, the name police say is linked to Malloti.

“The accused is wanted on a case of robbery with firearm after a warrant of arrest was issued for her in Wynberg court. The case was removed from the court roll until she is traced and arrested,” Van Wyk said.

Docket with the DPP after tip she is in Zimbabwe

Van Wyk added that the case docket is now with the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) after authorities received information suggesting the accused is believed to be living in Zimbabwe.

“The DPP’s office will make arrangements for the accused to be traced and then to be extradited back to South Africa,” he said.

While SAPS has not provided a timeline, extradition processes can be complex and often depend on cross-border cooperation, legal procedures, and whether the person being sought can be located and detained.

Warrant reportedly dates back to 2018

According to SAPS records referenced in recent reporting, a warrant of arrest for Namatai Bhobho was issued on January 19, 2018, at the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court. The warrant reportedly requires that she be arrested and brought before court on charges related to armed robbery.

Authorities say the matter was removed from the court roll pending her arrest, meaning the case would only move forward once she is traced and brought before the Wynberg court.

Malloti’s social media post draws attention

The renewed focus on the case follows a recent social media post attributed to Malloti, where she appeared to brush off the speculation and framed the situation as something she has already lived through.

“You can’t blame my past nomore I came from the trenches but through God’s Grace, TAKAIPFUURA,” she wrote, sharing the message alongside the song “All My Life” by Lil Durk featuring J. Cole.

To many watching from the outside, the post read like a mix of defiance and relief, a public reminder that she believes she has moved beyond whatever once defined her. Still, the allegations and the official police process now unfolding suggest the matter is far from settled.

What happens next

Authorities say the next steps involve tracing the accused in Zimbabwe and continuing the legal process required to have her returned to South Africa to face the charge of robbery with a firearm.

SAPS has not released further details about the circumstances of the alleged robbery, beyond confirming the warrant and the charge. Malloti has not publicly addressed SAPS’s latest statements directly, aside from the previously reported social media post.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.

Mokonyane is the son of Mokgadi Tryphina Mokonyane.

According to the Forum for South Africa (FOSA) they have been approached regarding the matter of Mokonyane.

“Thabang had travelled to Zimbabwe with his girlfriend, Khathutshelo and the family became concerned on 1 January after losing contact with him. It was later confirmed that his lifeless body was found hanged on a tree and is currently being kept at a mortuary in Zimbabwe,” the statement reads.

FOSA further said the family is devastated, financially distressed and unable to repatriate the body to South Africa for burial.

“They are appealing for urgent assistance to ensure that their loved one is brought home and laid to rest with dignity. The family has further expressed serious concerns regarding the circumstances surrounding Thabang Mokonyane’s death and is requesting that the matter be handled with transparency and urgency by the relevant authorities.

FOSA was contacted yesterday (Sunday) to assist the family and to escalate the matter to the appropriate stakeholders.

FOSA called on Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO), The South African High Commission in Zimbabwe and the relevant law enforcement and consular services to intervene without delay.

“They must assist the family with repatriation processes and ensure that the circumstances of the death are properly attended to. We appeal to community members, organisations.and good Samaritans who may be able to support the family during this painful time.No family should be left helpless and stranded in grief across borders,” the statement reads.

Zapambela, who holds a Zimbabwean passport, has reportedly been linked to multiple phone thefts across Gauteng. But there’s a twist: authorities say he was previously released on bail after presenting what appeared to be a South African passport under the name “Gumede.”

This has raised serious red flags about possible identity fraud, with officials now calling for a deeper investigation into how he might have obtained or used dual documents. As the case unfolds, it’s highlighting ongoing concerns around immigration, document verification, and repeat offenders in the country’s justice system. Zapambela remains in custody, facing charges related to theft and possession of suspected stolen property.

Zimbabwean preacher and founder of the Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) Ministries, Prophet Walter Magaya, has been arrested on multiple charges, including rape and fraud. The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed the arrest, which took place during an early morning operation in Harare.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing and more details will be released as evidence is gathered. Magaya, one of Zimbabwe’s most influential religious figures, rose to prominence in the early 2010s through his popular healing crusades and televised sermons.

The arrest has sent shockwaves through the religious community. It comes just days before a major event planned by his ministry in Harare, now uncertain after his detention.

Magaya has faced controversy in the past — most notably in 2018, when he claimed to have discovered a cure for HIV and cancer, a statement that was later retracted after public outcry and government intervention.

Reports suggest the current allegations are linked to earlier complaints of sexual misconduct and financial deception. While Magaya’s church has not yet issued an official statement, social media has been flooded with mixed reactions — some applauding the police action, others accusing authorities of targeting the charismatic preacher.

Observers believe the case could mark a turning point for Zimbabwe’s religious sector, long criticized for lack of accountability among high-profile pastors. Magaya remains in police custody as investigations continue.

The crash, which claimed 43 lives and left many others injured, occurred when a cross-border bus traveling from Gqeberha to Zimbabwe and Malawi veered off the N1 and plunged down an embankment. Emergency services worked through the night to recover victims and transport survivors to nearby hospitals.

During the clean-up, officers discovered multiple bottles believed to contain medication scattered among the wreckage. Provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe confirmed that an official inquiry has been opened to determine the origin and legality of the substances.

Police say the medication may fall under South Africa’s controlled substance laws, which prohibit the possession of certain medicines without a prescription or authorization. “Carrying a large quantity of medication without proper documentation is illegal,” explained provincial spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba.

Investigators have not yet identified the lawful owner, but they are treating the matter seriously as part of their broader probe into the crash. “We urge anyone who recognizes the medication or believes it belongs to them to contact their nearest police station or call the SAPS toll-free number,” said Ledwaba.

The discovery has sparked widespread public discussion after images circulating online appeared to show bottles of codeine-based cough syrup, known as BronCleer, among the debris. Authorities have since clarified that the medication is not distributed through public hospitals or clinics, emphasizing that it remains a tightly controlled substance only available through licensed private channels.

As investigations continue, the Limpopo disaster has drawn condolences and support from both South African and Zimbabwean leaders. Many families are still waiting for updates about their loved ones as recovery efforts and formal identification of victims proceed.

By Lwandile Hlekwayo

An injury crisis and disciplinary blow have forced Hugo Broos into a high-stakes reshuffle ahead of Bafana Bafana’s defining World Cup qualifier, with Stellenbosch duo Ashley Cupido and Thabo Moloisane handed the responsibility of helping South Africa secure automatic qualification when they host Rwanda at Mbombela Stadium on Tuesday night.

The Group C standings leave South Africans in a must-win situation following a draw against Zimbabwe. Tensions are high and calculators are on the table as automatic qualification depends on a positive result and Nigeria beating Benin. The exclusion of Mbokazi and Foster is a major blow for Bafana Bafana as both have proved to be integral players in Broos’s game plan.

It is important to note that Rwanda are the only team in FIFA World Cup Qualifying CAF Group C to have beaten South Africa on the field of play during this campaign. This adds to the intensity and pressure that Bafana Bafana face on Tuesday. A path that was once clear is now clouded with uncertainty as Broos aims to secure World Cup qualification.

It is almost poetic for Broos: the team that once represented his biggest setback could now stand between him and World Cup glory. But with Foster sidelined and Mbokazi suspended, the Belgian coach must place his faith in fresh legs and hungry hearts. If Cupido and Moloisane can rise to the occasion, Tuesday’s adversity will be remembered as the turning point that galvanised a nation. If they falter, the calculators and what-ifs will haunt South African football for another four years.

The tragic incident occurred on Sunday, about 90 kilometres from the Zimbabwean border, when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle.

According to Limpopo province’s transport minister, Violet Mathye, emergency teams have confirmed 40 deaths so far, among them a 10-month-old baby. She added that 38 people are receiving treatment in hospital, while search efforts continue for others who may still be trapped or missing.

The bus had been travelling from Gqeberha, roughly 1,500 kilometres away, carrying passengers who were migrant workers heading home. Authorities suspect that the accident may have been caused by driver fatigue or a mechanical failure.

South Africa’s roads, though extensive and well-developed, are notorious for their high rate of fatal crashes, often linked to speeding, reckless driving, and poorly maintained vehicles.

According to reports, the 42-year-old driver was transporting 54 passengers when two men seated at the back of the bus suddenly pulled out guns and began threatening passengers. Chaos erupted as some passengers tried to fight back, but the gunmen opened fire, killing a man believed to be in his 30s and a young woman around 25 years old.

After the shooting, the attackers robbed passengers of cash and mobile phones before escaping into another vehicle that had been following the bus. Shocked passengers were left to comfort one another as emergency services arrived at the bloody scene.

Images circulating online showed a heartbreaking moment where a small child clung to the body of her lifeless mother inside the bus.

Police have launched an intense manhunt for the suspects, with a dedicated task team assigned to the case. Provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe condemned the attack, calling it a brutal act of violence against innocent travelers.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the suspects or the getaway vehicle to contact the police immediately.

This tragic incident adds to growing concerns over violent attacks targeting buses, including previous robberies and shootings involving tourists and cross-border travelers in South Africa.
