]]> Donald Trump has stated that he intends to leave office after completing a second term and will not seek a third, aligning with constitutional limits—even though he has previously given mixed signals on the subject.

 

“I’ll be an eight-year president, I’ll be a two-term president. I always thought that was very important,” he said, recognizing the constitutional amendment that bars a president from serving more than two terms. He noted that some supporters have expressed a desire for him to stay longer, but acknowledged the legal restrictions established in 1947.

Trump also indicated his hope that a strong Republican successor would continue his legacy, saying, “I’m looking to have four great years and turn it over to somebody, ideally a great Republican, a great Republican to carry it forward.”
