Authorities believe he is heavily armed, has strong bush survival skills, and knows the area well. Local media have described him as a radicalised conspiracy theorist.

Police helicopters have been scouring the forests for two days, while officers continue to search properties and speak with Freeman’s partner, hoping to track him down.

Deputy Commissioner Russell Barrett vowed that police would not rest until the fugitive is caught. He also warned that anyone caught helping Freeman would face prosecution.

Limpopo Policespokesperson Sergent Malesela Ledwaba said that the Police received information about a white Toyota Hilux bakkie that was allegedly stolen on Saturday 12 July 2025 in Gauteng province, City of Pretoria under Lyttleton policing area.

On Monday 14 July 2025, information was received about the bakkie that was reportedly driven from Gauteng province along the R101 public road headed to Limpopo Province.

The Anti-Smuggling Task Team and private Security operationalized the information and a joint operation was activated.

The bakkie was positively spotted entering Mokopane town where it was immediately stopped and searched.

A 34-year-old male driver could not provide satisfactory response about the origin of a white Toyota Hilux bakkie valued at more than R700 000, 00 and was immediately placed under an arrest on the spot for possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the bakkie was intended to be illegally smuggled into Zimbabwe.

The State intend to oppose bail.

The suspect then led police to his apartment, where they uncovered more drugs—crystal meth, mandrax tablets—and two digital scales, believed to be used for measuring the substances.

He is expected to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court soon.

At approximately 08:15, the Rural Safety Coordinator team at Warden police station received information regarding a grey Ford Ranger with GP registration numbers, suspected of transporting dagga and approaching Warden on the N3.

Police members quickly responded and spotted the vehicle heading southward on the N3. A chase ensued, which officers skillfully brought to an end by tactically stopping the bakkie. The vehicle, with only the driver inside, was searched. Police discovered a large quantity of dagga loaded in the back of the bakkie.

The 36-year-old driver was immediately arrested for dealing in dagga and the loot was confiscated. He will appear in the Vrede Magistrate court soon. Investigations are ongoing to determine the supply and intended destination of the drugs.

The collaboration led to the arrest of the 39 year old suspect, who terrorised residents since 2023. Teboho Patrick Mofokeng was identified as the male person who approached unsuspecting victims at open places such as Public Park, Ratau Complex and Station view.

According to statements given by eighteen victims already, Teboho would tell vulnerable victims that community patrollers and the police are looking for them; he allegedly would then advise the victims to accompany him to a place where they would meet the police in order to clear their name. It is said that Teboho would walk the victims to a remote place and then rob them of belongings such as cash, cards and cellular telephones.

Teboho was identified by an index finger with cut-off segments, ‘action’ tattoo on the right hand; ‘crazy in love’ tattoo on the left hand, and a butterfly tattoo behind the neck. See pics.

Community-Police partnership led to Teboho being arrested and he was positively identified by five victims.

It is alleged that on 02 March 2020, the Director of Forensic Audit Unit at the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development received information about a certain service provider (suspect) who approached an official attached to Information Management System (IMS) unit within the department regarding a tender.

According to the Hawks Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Christopher Singo it was reported that the official met the service provider and in that meeting the suspect tried to influence him for a gratification in the bidding of a tender process which was to the estimated value of R120 million.

The official declined the request by the suspect. It was further alleged that after the official left the meeting, the suspect followed him and placed a package full of money inside his vehicle. The suspect then drove off after leaving an amount of R50 000 inside the official’s vehicle.

The matter was then reported to the Hawks for further investigation culminating in the summons being served on 18 June 2025. The suspect is expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 10 July 2025.

Free State Policespokesperson Sergent Mahlomola Kareli said it was on18 June 2025 at about 15:00, two Bronville Crime Prevention members were busy conducting a vehicle checkpoint (VCP) at the Erfdeel Road/Masimong T-junction. Members attention was drawn to a maroon Toyota Etios that offloaded an African male carrying a black backpack on a bridge. The individual then proceeded to walk towards the nearby mine.

The Toyota Etios was searched with its four occupants and all was in inorder. The members then proceeded to follow the individual who had been dropped off. As the patrol vehicle approached, the suspect threw his black backpack into long grass in an open field and fled on foot. Despite a pursuit by the officers, the suspect managed to evade arrest.

Upon searching the area where the bag was discarded, police recovered two 9mm pistols, 10 live 9mm rounds of ammunition and two magazines. Both firearms had their serial numbers filed off.
