Johannesburg: Proceedings in the high-profile murder trial of Bafana Mahungela were dramatically adjourned at the Johannesburg High Court on Wednesday after the accused claimed he was suddenly unwell during cross-examination.

Mahungela, who is currently conducting part of the cross-examination himself, told the court that his ears were “not okay” and that the condition affected his ability to speak loudly and participate effectively in the proceedings.

The Police in Sandton in Johannesburg, has launched a public appeal for assistance in tracing Raymond Themba Khanyile, who is wanted in connection with a murder case.

According to police, the suspect committed the murder on 17 March 2026 in Sandton.

Detectives attached to SAPS Sandton are currently investigating the matter and are urging members of the public to come forward with any information that may assist in locating and apprehending the suspect.

Anyone who may know the whereabouts of the suspect is requested to urgently contact the investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Mathebula, on 071 675 6103. Information can also be shared anonymously through the MySAPS or by calling the Crime Stop hotline on 08600 10111.
