“I Fear I’ll Die Before Burying Them” – A Mother’s Heartbreaking Plea for Justice

A Free State mother, Maria Selepe, is desperately pleading for the release of her children’s remains—six months after they tragically perished in a truck fire in QwaQwa.

The Mofokeng and Hlatswayo families remain in anguish, searching for answers amid lingering suspicions and unresolved questions. The grieving family of a woman who died in the fire believes her husband may have played a role in the tragedy. Meanwhile, authorities acknowledge possible investigative missteps but urge patience as forensic results are still pending.

Sibusiso Mahlangu and his wife, Lerato, have been found guilty of murdering Sibusiso Sithebe in Soshanguve, Tshwane, on 2 January 2022.
The Gauteng High Court in Pretoria accepted the State’s version that the murder was part of a plot to fake Mahlangu’s death to claim an insurance policy payout.
The Mahlangu’s had pleaded not guilty and said they did not know how the deceased landed up dead, in their house, on their bed.
