Real name is Celimpilo Gumede from a small township called ESikhaleni (eSikhawini) that is situated in the Northern Part of KwaZulu-Natal, Masta Soul did not allow his background defin his future.
The former Icora FM radio presenter who is now based in New York City in the United States of America, Masta Soul his journey in the radio broadcasting and deejaying has not been easy.

“Honestly speaking it took me to have passion to what I do and to believe in myself that I can far with my talent. My last radio presenting gig was with Icora FM back home and if an opportunity arises here, I will grab with both hands. My first love is Deejaying, followed by radio,” he said.
Masta Soul said that he began being a deejay back in 2005.
“After having tried my luck back at home to be booked in different clubs, I took a decision that changed my life. I left everything behind and moved to Johannesburg to pursue my dream and that did not work out too,” said the Soulful House Dj.
Masta Soul said: “In 2023 I decided to travel to the USA to my other friends who are based that side who managed to convince me that things were happening in New York. Few months down the line I found myself a job in one of the College’s where I teach music and Deejaying. From there I never looked back.
“New York City has become my home away from home. Recently I was signed by the biggest PR company called Anyone Music. The company manages many artists across the world which has given me platform to travel around Europe to perform,”he said.
Masta Soul said that at the moment he is working with different labels especially in Europe and America where he just released EP titled as “Another Dimension” where he did original version and his friend Teboho Nkone did the remix.
“I will be releasing another upcoming single that is set to drop on the 19th of December titled “Wipe Your Mouth” under 2Phonic Recordings based in Madrid in Spain,” he said.

The Awards continue a proud tradition of recognising outstanding media contributors. Last year, the Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented to veteran radio broadcaster Minah Pilane Huma and veteran journalist Dulile Sowage by Deputy Minister in the Presidency Hon. Kenny Morolong and the Executive Mayor of Rustenburg Cllr Shiela Mabale-Huma. This year’s ceremony will build on that legacy of celebrating excellence and preserving media heritage.
Honouring Dr Masego Ezekiel Matjila

Dr Masego Ezekiel Matjila, a distinguished SABC newsreader, has dedicated over 30 years to multilingual broadcasting and the promotion of indigenous languages. Beginning his career at Radio Setswana (later Motsweding FM), he also managed archives across several language radio services.
His remarkable skills led him to Setswana sports commentary and later prime-time news presenting in Setswana, Sesotho and Sepedi. He also served as a bulletin editor and executive producer until his retirement in 2021.
Matjila has received numerous accolades, including Best News Writer (2008) and AFCON Commentator of the Year (1996). He was recently awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the North-West University for his contributions to indigenous language development in broadcasting.
Honouring Veteran Broadcaster Snyman Rankane
Snyman Rankane, a beloved veteran broadcaster, is best known for his influential career at Motsweding FM where he hosted popular shows such as Gaabo Motho and Leretlhabetse. His commanding voice and deep connection with listeners made him a household name within the Setswana-speaking community.
Rankane continues to serve the industry as a presenter at Madibeng FM and plays a significant role in mentoring young radio broadcasters, nurturing the next generation of talent. His community involvement includes initiatives that provided winter uniforms to vulnerable families.
