Stanley Nwabali has addressed growing speculation about his future following his departure from Chippa United.

He has made it clear that a return to Nigeria is not currently on his radar.

The 29-year-old goalkeeper has been without a club since February after requesting to leave the Eastern Cape club — a move that was ultimately granted.

Since then, links to several clubs, including South African giants Kaizer Chiefs, have intensified.

However, speaking to Nigerian news website Punch.com Nwabali insists there is nothing concrete behind the rumours.

“It’s rumours everywhere,” he said. “When people talk about clubs, it’s just speculation. It shows people recognise your quality, but it doesn’t mean anything is done.”

Despite calls from former Super Eagles goalkeeper Peterside Idah for him to consider a return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Nwabali has firmly played down that possibility.

Instead, the shot-stopper highlighted a broader trend among West African players — the desire to test themselves in more competitive and financially stable leagues.

“In West Africa, our leagues are not as good. Players want to go to Europe, South Africa, or Morocco,” he explained. “Better structures, better pay, better opportunities — that’s what everyone is looking for.”

Having previously featured for clubs such as Enyimba and Lobi Stars, Nwabali is no stranger to Nigerian football, but he believes his next step lies beyond the region.

Crucially, the goalkeeper remains calm about his situation, despite concerns it could affect his place in the national team setup.

“I’m not worried,” he said. “I’m open to anywhere in the world. The right opportunity will come — and when it does, people will see.”

Snow wraps up, chilly strikes in

SPEAKING OVER THE NEXT EIGHT DAYS OR SO. SO IT’S SO HARD I MEAN, WE’VE GOT THE COLD. YEAH, WE’VE GOT TO THE COLD. IT IS THE UPPER MIDWEST. AS WE HEAD INTO THE REST OF THE DAY TODAY, WE’VE GOT WELL, A LOT OF CLOUDS OUT THERE RIGHT NOW. AND I THINK THOSE CLOUDS WILL STICK AROUND THROUGH THE EVENING HOURS TONIGHT. WE COULD STILL SEE A FEW SNOWFLAKES FLYING ACROSS THE METRO AREA AS WE HEAD INTO THE EVENING. WE’VE GOT ONE SNOW SHOWER NOW MOVING INTO PORTIONS OF FORT DODGE OUT TOWARDS BOONE COUNTY, GREEN COUNTY AS WELL. DOWN THROUGH PERRY. YOU’RE SEEING A LITTLE BIT OF LIGHT SNOW FOR THE DINNER HOUR, BUT THAT’S ABOUT IT. SOME SNOWFLAKES FLYING OR TRYING TO FLY INTO PORTIONS OF WESTERN MOINES OUT TOWARDS WAUKEE VAN METER, UP THROUGH PLACES LIKE PERRY, AS I MENTIONED, GRANGER. AND THEN IF THIS HOLDS TOGETHER, WE PUSHING INTO WESTERN PORTIONS OF POLK COUNTY HERE AS WE HEAD INTO THE NEXT 20 TO 30 MINUTES. SO ANYONE COULD SEE SOME SNOWFLAKES HERE AT TIMES TONIGHT. AGAIN, MOST OF THE ROADWAYS. OKAY. BUT IF THERE ARE SECONDARY ROADS THAT DO SEE A COATING OF SNOW LATER ON THIS EVENING, COULD MAKE FOR SOME SLICK SPOTS EARLY TOMORROW MORNING. WE STAY WELL BELOW FREEZING TONIGHT. WE’RE IN THE TWENTIES FOR A LOT OF SPOTS, ESPECIALLY OUT INTO WESTERN PORTIONS OF THE STATE. FEELS LIKE TEMPERATURE, A WIND CHILL RIGHT NOW IN THE LOW 20 TO UPPER TEENS. SO IT IS A COLD NIGHT AHEAD. BUNDLE UP YOUR OUT AND ABOUT TONIGHT. I’LL BE ANOTHER COLD START TOMORROW MORNING. TEMPERATURES FALL BACK INTO THE UPPER MID TO UPPER TWENTIES HERE TONIGHT AND THERE COULD BE A FEW CHANCES FOR SOME LATE SNOW EARLY TOMORROW MORNING. NOT LOOKING AT MUCH ACCUMULATION WITH THAT, BUT WE’VE GOT SOME LEFTOVER MOISTURE THAT’S KIND OF HANGING AROUND THROUGH THE FIRST PART OF YOUR DAY ON WEDNESDAY. UNFORTUNATELY, HIGH TEMPERATURES CONTINUE TO DROP HERE AS WE HEAD INTO THE OF THE WORKWEEK, I THINK TOMORROW, THURSDAY RIGHT AROUND 30 DEGREES. THEN IT GETS EVEN COLDER AS WE HEAD INTO FRIDAY, SATURDAY AND SUNDAY WITH HIGH TEMPERATURES STICKING IN. THE 20 IS THERE FOR FRIDAY AFTERNOON. SO QUITE A BIT BELOW THE NORMAL FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR TYPICALLY OR WE’RE IN THE UPPER FORTIES, SO WE’LL BE STAYING IN THE TWENTIES, IN THE THIRTIES AT LEAST THROUGH THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS. FUTURE CAST LOOKS LIKE THIS. THE SNOW SHOWERS WILL CONTINUE TO SHIFT OFF TO THE EAST HERE TONIGHT AS THAT SYSTEM DEPARTS, YOU’LL SEE A LITTLE BIT OF MOISTURE THAT TRIES TO WRAP BACK AROUND HERE ACROSS NORTH CENTRAL PORTIONS OF THE STATE AND INTO EASTERN IOWA BY EARLY TOMORROW MORNING. THIS IS AROUND 4 A.M. SO WE’VE GOT A FEW SNOW SHOWERS OUT THERE. AGAIN, NOT LOOKING AT ACCUMULATION. SNOW SHOWERS SHOULD BE PRETTY LIGHT IN NATURE. AND THEY’RE OUT OF HERE BY MID-MORNING. SO BUT WE ARE LEFT WITH A LOT OF CLOUDS HERE THROUGHOUT WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING. A CLOUDY, COLD DAY ON WEDNESDAY. AND THEN WE’VE SEE A LITTLE BIT OF SUNSHINE RETURN BY THURSDAY. BUT THOSE WINDS PICK UP BY THURSDAY AFTERNOON. WE’RE LOOKING AT A COLD END TO THE WORKWEEK WITH TEMPERATURES THERE INTO TWENTIES. SO TONIGHT, LOW TO MID TWENTIES ACROSS THE STATE, A FEW SNOWFLAKES POSSIBLE BY THE TIME YOU’RE WAKING UP TOMORROW, KIDS ARE HEADING OFF TO SCHOOL. A CHILLY START AFTERNOON HOURS. WE STAY RIGHT AROUND 30 DEGREES. SO TOMORROW’S FORECAST, MOST OF US RIGHT AT THAT FREEZING MARK OR BELOW IT, SLIGHTLY WARMER AS YOU HEAD INTO EASTERN IOWA BY TOMORROW AFTERNOON AT A FORECAST, LOOKS LIKE THIS BREEZY FOR THURSDAY WILL MAKE IT FEEL A LITTLE BIT COLDER THAN IT ACTUALLY IS 20 ON THE BOARD THERE FOR FRIDAY AND SATURDAY OVERNIGHT LOWS GETTING PRETTY CLOSE TO SINGLE DIGIT TERRITORY THERE BY FRIDAY AND SATURDAY MORNINGS, WE STAY IN THE THIRTIES THROUGH THE WEEKEND. AND THEN FINALLY IT LOOKS LIKE WE’VE GOT A LITTLE BIT OF A WARM UP COMING RIGHT BEFORE
