The 31-year-old star appeared before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Thursday as he continues to be released on bail.

However his chances of getting bail were thrown a curve after the State Prosecutor Kgaogelo Lekoloane called on a new witness in the form of Fikile Nkosi, who is the operational nurse manager at the Polokwane Correctional facility.

Nkosi told the court that the musician never requested medical attention while in custody and was not denied any treatment.

“All complaints and requests are recorded in a register… The accused never registered to get medical assistance, she said

Nkosi’s testimony directly interdicts Shebeshxt’s claims that his condition worsened in custody and is now in need of a Open Reduction Internal Fixation ( ORIF) as soon as possible.

Shebe’s lawyer, Michael Khumalo poked holes in Nkosi’s testimony, disputing the existence of the register.

“The accused informed me that he is not aware of such a register and the register doesn’t exist, said Khumalo during the cross – examination

With the defence having wrapped up their arguments, the state will an opportunity to present their arguments before the court next week.

Magistrate Godfrey Netshiozwi postponed the case to the 28th of April with the accused spending the long weekend behind bars.

Former police sergeant Rachel Kutumela (43), her sister Anna Shokane (47), and her daughter Florah Shokane (23) were arrested in October 2024 and have been in custody since December, awaiting a bail ruling.

Kutumela faces 32 charges, including nine counts of murder, 12 counts of fraud, money laundering, and defeating the ends of justice. Anna faces three murder charges, while Florah is charged with murder, fraud, and money laundering.

Investigations revealed that between 2013 and 2022, Rachel and Anna allegedly took out fraudulent life and funeral insurance policies on several victims, many of whom were poor, disabled, or mentally challenged. The payouts—claimed from multiple insurance companies—were allegedly shared with Florah.

The court also heard that Kutumela, as a police officer, often appeared at crime scenes even outside her jurisdiction, raising suspicions about her involvement.

State prosecutor Captain Keshi Mabunda urged the court to keep the accused behind bars, warning that Kutumela had already attempted to interfere with witnesses while in custody.

In his ruling, the magistrate said the trio had failed to provide exceptional circumstances to justify bail, adding that they posed a risk of committing further offences if released.

He drew parallels with the infamous case of Rosemary Ndlovu, another former police officer convicted of killing family members for insurance claims.

The case has been postponed to November 4, 2025, for further investigation.

Two young women, aged 19 and 20, were taken into custody after being found inside a stolen Toyota Hilux GD6 on the R101 near the Polokwane Weighbridge.

The vehicle had been reported stolen, and officers intercepted it during a routine patrol.

The male driver, known as Legudzumela, fled the scene on foot and disappeared into nearby bushes.
