Pitso Mosimane has once again sparked excitement among Kaizer Chiefs supporters after speaking about the club as if he were already part of the project.

Mosimane raised eyebrows this week when he repeatedly referred to Chiefs in the first person while discussing their ambitions of returning to the top of African football.

“You can say that Kaizer Chiefs has thrown the cat among the pigeons,” Mosimane said.

“I was speaking to Jess, and she said, ‘It is now in Pirates’ hands. We just want to consolidate our position.’

“Whether we play in the Champions League or Confederation Cup, we are doing it for our club. We want Kaizer Chiefs back.”

Those comments immediately sent Amakhosi supporters into a frenzy on social media. Many were convinced the legendary coach could be preparing for a sensational return to South African football.

Mosimane also revealed that Chiefs officials reminded him that the club reached the CAF Champions League final not too long ago.

“They asked me a question… Bobby said, ‘We were in the final four years ago with you (Al Ahly), so we can also claim it has not been long since we were there.’

“So Kaizer Chiefs see themselves doing well in that space,” added Mosimane.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly coach has now admitted he is ready to return to coaching — but only if the project excites him.

Mosimane has been without a club since leaving Esteghlal FC following salary disputes.

Speaking to iDiski Times, the CAF Champions League-winning coach admitted that national team football appeals to him, although he has not ruled out club football entirely.

“Coaching again? If you ask me, a national team, yes,” he said. “But you should never say never because I might go back to club coaching.”

Mosimane also revealed he has continued receiving offers, including interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia. However, he insists money alone will not convince him.

“If I coach a club, I want to win the Champions League,” he explained. “For me, it’s not about money anymore. I want to do what makes me happy.”

The Mosimane name is making waves again — but this time, it’s the next generation stepping into the spotlight.

PITSO MOSIMANE’S SON

Reatlegile “Rea” Mosimane, son of South African coaching legend Pitso Mosimane, is on the brink of a major breakthrough after securing a trial with a top La Liga club.

And this is not a “famous father favour” story.

The young Kaizer Chiefs academy striker has been quietly building his reputation in the junior ranks, delivering consistent performances and finding the back of the net regularly. His form has not gone unnoticed.

That hard work has now opened the door to Spain — a move that could shape his future in professional football.

Speaking on Marawa Sports Worldwide, Mosimane made it clear his son earned the opportunity on merit.

“A week before he got injured, he got a trial in Spain,” he revealed. “I won’t name the club now, but it’s a strong team with one of the best youth development programmes.”

He also dismissed any suggestion of influence, stressing that modern scouting systems rely on performance, not reputation.

“There’s a lot of scouting happening. Games are recorded, some are live — decisions are not made on hype, but on consistent performances,” he said.

The only setback has been a two-month injury that temporarily delayed the move. However, sources close to the situation believe that once fully fit, Rea will get his opportunity abroad.

While the club remains undisclosed, Mosimane hinted that it is not one of Spain’s traditional giants like FC Barcelona or Real Madrid — but still a respected institution known for developing young talent.

Rea has already had exposure to international football environments, having previously trained at a Barcelona satellite academy in Cairo, Egypt, during his father’s time at Al Ahly SC.

For now, all eyes are on the promising striker as he prepares for what could be the first step toward a European career.

Ernst Middendorp says the next Kaizer Chiefs coach will need more than tactical ability to survive at Naturena, warning that the pressure at the club exposes every weakness.

Former Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp has issued a blunt warning about what it takes to survive at Naturena, describing the club as a “monster” environment that exposes weakness quickly and completely.

In a detailed LinkedIn post, the veteran German coach said the pressure surrounding Kaizer Chiefs goes far beyond tactics and matchday preparation.

According to Middendorp, the Naturena environment is one of the most unforgiving in football because every decision, weakness and setback is immediately pushed into the spotlight.

“Coaching is not about following dreams, desires, or public expectations. It is about working with reality based on the type of players you have.” – Ernst Middendorp

COACHING CHIEFS REQUIRES MORE THAN TACTICS

Middendorp, who came close to winning the league title with Amakhosi in 2020, said a coach must have emotional strength as well as technical ability.

He identified stubbornness, confidence and emotional resilience as some of the most important qualities needed to succeed at the club.

He argued that a coach must be brave enough to stand by his football ideas even when fans and the media create intense pressure.

He also said confidence is needed to make unpopular decisions and defend them, while emotional resilience is essential for staying calm under public scrutiny.

THE REALITY OF THE KAIZER CHIEFS JOB

Middendorp said one of the biggest mistakes coaches make at Chiefs is trying to satisfy public expectations instead of working honestly with the players available.

He challenged the belief that the club must always play a certain style simply because of its history or fan expectations.

“Coaching is not about following dreams, desires, or public expectations,” Middendorp wrote.

“It is about working with reality based on the type of players you have.”

He said a coach’s most important responsibility is to assess the strengths and weaknesses of every player honestly and then build a structure that suits the squad.

According to Middendorp, team structure must come from individual player qualities, not from forcing a style that does not match the available personnel.

MIDDENDORP DEFENDS “HELICOPTER FOOTBALL”

The former Chiefs coach also defended the tactics he used during his spell at the club, which were often criticised and labelled “helicopter football.”

He said unusual systems can emerge when a coach stops forcing a fixed framework onto players who are not suited to it.

Instead, he argued, the right approach is to organise the team in a way that maximises strengths and protects weaknesses.

“At a team like Kaizer Chiefs, coaching leadership means clear assessment, bravery in decision-making, and building a structure that reflects the true strength of the team — not a fantasy of what people would like to see,” he wrote.

WARNING TO THE NEXT CHIEFS COACH

With names such as Benni McCarthy and Pitso Mosimane continuing to be linked with the Kaizer Chiefs job, Middendorp’s comments amount to a stern warning.

His message is clear: coaching Chiefs is not only about winning matches, but also about surviving one of the most demanding and heavily scrutinised environments in South African football.

His “monster” analogy suggests that unless the next coach is strong enough to block out the noise and trust his own decisions, the cycle of pressure and instability at Naturena may continue.

During his interview with Robert Marawa on Marawa Sports Worldwide, Motaung Jr said it was improper for him to comment about Mosmane and McCarthy since they already have two coaches at the club.

“You’re mentioning two top individuals who’ve achieved tremendous things in their careers. It would be unfair of me to sit here and talk about coaches when we have coaches within the team. We have our immediate mandate and responsibility to restore the pride and the hurt that’s been happening to the nation and to the team.

Motaung went on to say: “I can’t sit here and talk about individuals. It’s not professional. I don’t think it’s the right thing to do. I have a lot of respect for both of those gentlemen; they’ve achieved a lot through their playing days and as coaches. It’s always an honour to be associated with people like that.”

When asked if there will any big name coach at the club, Motaung Jr avoided the question again.

“Chiefs is a big team. We want the best coaches. The most experienced, the highest quality. That’s exactly what we want. That’s the direction we see ourselves. When we sat down and presented our 2030 plan.

“The continent is very important to us. So in terms of our strategy, continental football is a must. So we want to be on that stage. We want the calibre of players, personnel, analysts, and coaches who can take us to that stage. We want to associate ourselves with the best of the best,” he said.

Motaung Jr made it clear that Kaze and Youssef will run the bench of Kaizer Chiefs until the end of the season when he was cornered about their future in the club.

Kaizer Motaung Jr further revealed why Kaze wears an earpiece

“At the moment in time you’ve got Cedric who is connected to our analysis team,” he told Marawa.

“We have our analysis team who sit up top, and they’re busy with the live data, the coding, and they communicate what they see from an analysis perspective down to the bench and down to the technical team.”

JOHANNESBURG: Pitso Mosimane’s soccer growth drive has obtained a Curro increase, following affirmation that the college group will associate with him in a quest to “Create The Player of Tomorrow.”

From January 2023, soccer prospects at their faculties in Polokwane and Roodepoort will purchase invaluable data and excellent their expertise as half of the Pitso Mosimane Soccer Schools (PMSS) programme.

While most individuals would have hoped that Mosimane’s involvement in South African soccer could be at Bafana Bafana degree, the PMSS programme is a component of the former Mamelodi Sundowns’ coach bid to assist future variations of the nationwide staff.

“The question to ask is why coach [Stuart] Baxter, coach [Hugo] Broos, why are they not successful? It is because we are not dealing properly with our developmental structures,” his agent Moira Mosimane tells Eyewitness News in an unique interview.

“So as MT Sports (his management agency), one of the things coach Pitso asked us to do for him is help with development so that 70% to 80% of the players in Banyana Banyana and Bafana Bafana in the future are from Pitso Mosimane Soccer Schools”.

With that mandate, the faculties will educate youngsters between the ages of six to 13 to grasp the ball, in order that from 13 and up they will flourish on the pitch.

“Maybe if he gets given an u13 side and grows with them, he can (coach Bafana). As an agent for him, I don’t think it will have any value for coach Pitso go back if the foundation is not correct.”

In the interim it’s Saudi Arabian followers who’ve entrance row seats to watch Mosimane work, as he’s head coach at second division facet Al-Ahli Saudi FC.

The facet are at present fifth in the standings, seven factors behind the log leaders after 10 video games performed.
Having conquered the African continent, and now making a mark in Asia, many soccer followers are hoping Europe might be the subsequent step for South Africa’s most profitable coach.

“They change their mind a lot,” Moira laughs when requested about infiltrating that market.

Mosimane has a set-in stone backroom workers which options analysts Musi Matlaba, Kyle Solomons in addition to energy and conditioning coach Kabelo Rangoaga.

Coach Maahier Davids was in November added to the ‘dream team’ as an assistant coach to Mosimane.

“One day it’s a yes and one day it’s a no. I just believe that the move into the Asia market, is very big, from a tactical point of view. I think what we need to focus on is winning the Asia Champions League with Al-Ahli Saudi. I think it’s possible, in the next two-three years. We need to then promote them back to the Premier League.”

Moira provides: “Also, if you happen to take a look at who owns the [English] Premier League groups, it’s the Saudis. I don’t assume it’s about teaching an EPL staff it’s about making that mark with a staff that’s an underdog and saying that is ‘the place I discovered them, and that is the place I took them'”.

The administration of Mosimane’s profession is a household enterprise as Moira is the founder of and Managing Director of MT Sports whereas his daughter Lelentle is the firm’s Digital Media Specialist.

The firm’s aims embrace expertise identification and placement, growth and administration of their expertise’s model, communication and business pursuits.

When it comes to how the conversations round coach Mosimane’s subsequent profession strikes influence the household unit, Moira admits it’s straightforward to separate the two as a result of they intention to guarantee the coach continues to break down limitations, as he exports South Africa’s teaching skills to the world.

“I don’t think I wear both hats, to be honest,” Moira says about the balancing act between agent and spouse. “I wear the hat of ‘my client wants to do this’. That is important. I think coach Pitso’s wife must deal with how she balances the family. Coach Pitso has an ambition of being the best. He is the best. Unfortunately, he is not yet properly recognised.”
