In the aftermath, Open Tickets confirmed the system malfunction and announced that refunds had been issued to around 80% of affected online buyers.

Meanwhile, fans attempting to secure tickets through Computicket reported being scammed before the platform abruptly closed sales for the match. As of May 6, some supporters claimed they had still not received their tickets or refunds.

The stampede for seats reflects the intense anticipation surrounding the Soweto Derby final, with all 41,000 general access tickets selling out in just 90 minutes. Open Tickets maintains that all issues have since been resolved.
