]]>The Buccaneers were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw at the Orlando Amstel Arena on Saturday in their final home game of the season.
The result means Pirates must now beat Orbit College FC at Mbombela Stadium in their final match of the campaign if they are to overtake Mamelodi Sundowns and lift the league trophy.
Victory over Durban City would have wrapped up the title race, but Pirates now face a difficult task against an Orbit side fighting to avoid relegation.
Despite the setback, Sibisi insists belief inside the Pirates camp remains strong.
“We are still there, we are still within our objectives,” Sibisi told Pirates media after the match.
“There is no reason to doubt that we will win the title. The performance today showed that we wanted to win.
Unfortunately, it was not enough. But in our final game against Orbit, there is no reason not to believe.”
The Pirates captain admitted the players were disappointed not to give supporters a winning send-off at home.
“We would have loved to end the season at home with three points. It wasn’t meant to be; we tried. It wasn’t through a lack of fighting. The boys tried until the final whistle,” he added.
Statistics showed Pirates had more than 30 attempts on goal against Durban City, but failed to find the breakthrough, leaving supporters anxiously waiting to see if the club can finally end its 14-year wait for a league title.

]]>The highly anticipated fixture will take place on Saturday, 23 May 2026 at Mbombela Stadium. And tickets are expected to sell out fast.
Kick-off is scheduled for 3 pm. The match was initially set for Olympia Park Stadium in Rustenburg. But the venue was unavailable, and Orbit was forced to seek an alternative one for this match.
Orbit thanked all relevant stakeholders for their cooperation in securing a compliant venue capable of hosting a match of such magnitude.
“This fixture represents another important moment in Orbit College FC’s historic journey in the Betway Premiership,” the club said in a statement.
The club also reaffirmed its commitment to delivering a professionally organised event that reflects league standards and the spirit of South African football.
Further information regarding match day operations and logistics will be communicated through the club’s official platforms in due course.
If Pirates win their sold-out game against Durban City at Orlando Amstel Arena on Saturday, Orbit will have to give them a guard of honour when they host them.
The Buccaneers are three points short of winning the title that has been in Mamelodi Sundowns’ hands for the past eight years.
