the inspection revealed that the building is dilapidated and without doors, windows, or internal walls.

The DA has asked the Portfolio Committee on Technical Services to conduct the oversight themselves, and they have committed that the report on the condition of the building will be tabled in the council read the media statement further

The DA Caucus of Nketoana demands an action plan from the municipality to restore its neglected buildings per South Africa’s National Heritage Resources Act (NHRA) of 1999.

The current neglect of these assets reflects a severe failure in maintenance, reducing once-proud establishments to crumbling structures.

Water meter boxes, supposed to have been used in a project, are lying around between the rubble, together with pipelines. It’s sad to see that buildings are collapsing; it reflects poorly on the image of the town.

Some residents are even asking for meter covers, only to be told there’s no money for them, yet in the meantime, many are visibly lying around unused.
