]]> A 44-year-old man has been arrested in Malmesbury after police stopped his vehicle and discovered drugs, unlicensed precious metals, and large amounts of cash hidden inside.

 

Officers from the local Crime Prevention Unit received a tip-off about a car transporting drugs. The vehicle was intercepted on the N7 near Moorreesburg.

 

During the search, police found a small quantity of cocaine, four uncut gold stones, and cash totaling over R141,000, along with R280 in smaller notes. The driver was unable to account for the items.

 

He was arrested on charges including possession of drugs, contravention of the Precious Metals Act, and contravention of the Financial Intelligence Centre Act. He is expected to appear in the Malmesbury Magistrate’s Court soon.
