The 22-year-old was stretchered off during the heated showdown at Loftus Stadium following a heavy challenge from Sundowns midfielder Jayden Adams.

Chiefs confirmed that scans revealed a fracture to Shabalala’s right humerus, the bone between the shoulder and elbow, with the midfielder now set to undergo an operation.

The injury is expected to rule the talented youngster out for the remainder of the season, with Amakhosi revealing that his recovery period could take between five and six weeks.

Shabalala was rushed to the hospital immediately after the incident and remains under medical care ahead of surgery.

The Glamour Boys also sent a message of support to the midfielder, wishing him a successful operation and speedy recovery as he prepares to begin rehabilitation.

The injury comes at a difficult time for the Chiefs, with Shabalala having emerged as one of the club’s standout performers during the closing stages of the campaign.

Adams also took to social media after the match to wish the Chiefs star a speedy recovery.

Meanwhile, Chiefs were also without striker Wandile Duba against Sundowns due to a groin injury.

The club confirmed that Duba is still receiving treatment, with hopes that he could return before the end of the season.

Chiefs have just three Betway Premiership matches remaining as they continue their push for a top-three finish and CAF qualification next season.
