<h2 data-section-id="1mxuht9" data-start="870" data-end="930">Masilela Backs Mngqithi’s Ability but Warns of Challenges</h2>
<p data-start="971" data-end="1128">Mngqithi has been strongly linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs, with his experience at <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Mamelodi Sundowns</span></span> making him a credible candidate.</p>
<p data-start="1130" data-end="1265">However, Masilela believes the Naturena-based club presents a unique challenge that could expose weaknesses in his management approach.</p>
<p data-start="1267" data-end="1353">“At big teams, you have experienced players who tend to have opinions,” said Masilela.</p>
<p data-start="1355" data-end="1438">“Some have a voice at times and question things, and some coaches don’t like that.”</p>
<h2 data-section-id="1r5dzls" data-start="1440" data-end="1474">Concerns Over Player Management</h2>
<p data-start="1509" data-end="1625">Masilela also reflected on Mngqithi’s short stint as head coach at Mamelodi Sundowns between July and November 2024.</p>
<p data-start="1627" data-end="1777">During that period, reports suggested tensions between the coach and senior players, raising questions about his handling of high-profile individuals.</p>
<p data-start="1779" data-end="1938">Notably, key players <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Teboho Mokoena</span></span> and <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Khuliso Mudau</span></span> were benched, a decision widely viewed as a clash of egos.</p>
<p data-start="1940" data-end="2077">“When I look at that situation at Sundowns with Mokoena and Mudau, I couldn’t understand why those guys were not playing,” Masilela said.</p>
<p data-start="2079" data-end="2154">“The coach explained that he was rotating the team to keep everyone fresh.”</p>
<h2 data-section-id="12ziee6" data-start="2156" data-end="2184">Big Egos at Kaizer Chiefs</h2>
<p data-start="2221" data-end="2359">According to Masilela, success at Kaizer Chiefs will depend heavily on Mngqithi’s ability to manage strong personalities within the squad.</p>
<p data-start="2361" data-end="2455">“Man management in today’s game is very key. You have to be able to manage big egos,” he said.</p>
<p data-start="2457" data-end="2560">“If you can’t manage players with an ego or strong personalities, then you lose the trust of the team.”</p>
<h2 data-section-id="fuvuxp" data-start="2562" data-end="2592">A Potential Positive Impact</h2>
<p data-start="2628" data-end="2737">Despite his reservations, Masilela believes Mngqithi could still bring a positive influence to Kaizer Chiefs.</p>
<p data-start="2739" data-end="2914">The former <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Bafana Bafana</span></span> defender suggested that the coach’s tactical approach could introduce a more dynamic and refreshing style of play at the club.</p>
<h2 data-section-id="8dtpi" data-start="2916" data-end="2929">Conclusion</h2>
<p data-start="2931" data-end="3121" data-is-last-node="" data-is-only-node="">While Manqoba Mngqithi remains a strong candidate for the Kaizer Chiefs job, questions around his ability to manage top players could determine whether he succeeds or struggles if appointed.</p>
