MEC Mbalula in his address highlighted the commitment to making the Free State a place where residents feel safe, protected and respected.

He said safety is not a privilege but a right for all.

“Every citizen’s safety is a daily duty, and a mission that we pursue through bold leadership, collective accountability and decisive action, that why I have taken a hands in approach in the fight crime”, says the MEC.

According to the Free State Policespokesperson Brigadier Motantsi Makhele the case has been postponed to 13 June 2025 for bail information and further investigation.

Makhele said: At this stage, the identity of the accused cannot be revealed, as ordered by the court informed by the request from the investigating team.

Provincial Commissioner of the Police in the Free State, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane, has reiterated the SAPS’s unwavering commitment to uncovering the full truth behind this heinous crime.

Kamogelo Baukudi was kidnapped on Thursday, 5 June 2025 and remains missing. The SAPS continues to prioritize his safe return as a matter of utmost urgency.

Police are appealing to the public for any information that may assist in the investigation.
