Former Isibaya actress Gcina Mkhize has won the first round in her court battle to stop her eviction and save her Johannesburg home.

Mkhize, known for playing Khanyisile Majola-Ndlovu on Isibaya, appeared at the Booysens Magistrate’s Court where she filed papers challenging the bank’s decision to auction her house without her knowledge and the eviction order that followed.

The court ruled in her favour, granting a postponement and setting a new date of 5 February 2026, giving her more time to secure legal representation.

She told MDN News she is relieved that she and her children will not be homeless over the festive season, and remains determined to fight for the home she believes was gifted to her by her ancestors.
